How to make a choose-your-own-adventure story
Relay is a free experimental AI interactive story maker for adults. Create a fictional story with three decisions, two options per decision and four possible endings. Edit an editorial starter or request an AI draft, preview it, then create an unlisted link that friends can play and remix without an account.
- Pick a starter or describe a fictional situation. AI requests are limited; editing a starter does not require AI.
- Give each option a distinct consequence. Review all three scenes and four endings, then preview your story.
- Create a share link and keep your recovery-key backup private. Send the link to a friend; they can play and publish their own remix.

Is Relay free?
Relay is a free experimental beta with no paid plan. AI generation is limited to three requests per network per UTC day and twelve requests across the site in a rolling 24-hour window, including failed calls. You can edit starters when AI is unavailable.
Do friends need an account?
No account is needed to play, edit or publish. Creation and publication are intended for adults aged 18 or older. Local recovery keys let the publisher remove their own links; keep a private backup.
What makes it an interactive story?
The reader makes three decisions and sees an immediate consequence after each one. The final ending depends on how many second options were chosen. This is a fictional game, not a personality assessment or a full branching game engine.
Are my stories private?
No. Stories are unlisted and are not placed in a public feed, but anyone with a link can read and copy them. Do not include personal information. Deleting your original does not remove remixes other people have already made.
Can I use AI or write everything myself?
Both. AI produces a draft that needs your review. You can also edit the title, scenes, choices, consequences and endings manually. This demo uses an editorial starter and manual edits; it does not pretend a preset is AI output.
What should I make for a group chat?
Try a fictional robot café, a friendly space expedition or an impossible dinner party. Ask one concrete question: what would you choose? Invite friends to change one scene and pass their version on. These are suggested uses, not tested customer results.
